When natural disasters strike, public and private sector agencies turn to STRGrants to pass out disaster relief assistance grants quickly and efficiently. Over the past 10 years, eGrants has been used – from New Jersey to the Gulf Coast, to process more than $10 billion in HUD CDBG-R funds out to the public, helping recovery to begin within days. eGrants gives users a high level of control, helping to reduce the risk of fraud and award duplication. STR also draws on its deep field experience and consults with agencies to develop disaster resiliency plans and sound disaster relief policies.
STR.Grants began work in the Disaster Assistance area in 2006 shortly after the destruction that accompanied Hurricanes Katrina and Rita along the Gulf Coast. We were called upon to provide consulting services and software solutions for the States of Mississippi and Louisiana to allow them to receive and process applications from applicants whose homes had incurred damage from the hurricanes.
The project for the State of Mississippi lasted over three years. During the project, applications were accepted from and grants awarded to over 30,000 applicants. The project in the State of Louisiana started in 2006 and is on-going. For that project, over 225,000 applications were received. Over 130,000 grants were awarded, totaling greater than $9,000,000,000. The software continues to be used for post-award grant modifications and post-award monitoring of applicant compliance.
The project in the State of New Jersey started in May of 2013 with grant applications being accepted in less than 18 days after contract award. The STR involvement continued until all applications had been received and the awards for the first grant program had been completed. Over $1,5000,000,000 in grants were awarded using the STR software.
