QA/Testing Engineer

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Functional Lead to understand overarching product design, and with each Agile Sprint, conduct Functional Tests, Integration and Regression Tests
  • Prepare, maintain and execute test plans/cases
  • Create a suite of test data that fully exercises required functional capabilities and data quality relative to workflow, rules, transformations, calculations, reports and geo-mapping display
  • Identify and log defects if/when a test fails with substantiating description and root cause to facilitate efficient investigation and resolution by development team
  • Validate product releases, enhancements, fixes before promotion to production
  • Coordinate with configuration/environment administrator on the development/test/production promotion process
  • Provide client implementation support for configuration testing and data load and verification process prior to go-live
  • Own the overall defect tracking process, by which defects are logged, prioritized and scheduled for resolution, including preparation of reports that summarize overall QA status and metrics review for the team
  • Participate in stress testing activities, in collaboration with the development and production teams, to ensure satisfactory performance
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree (preferably BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering)
  • Minimum of 5 years (1+ as lead) of QA experience in high-tech software development or commercial web based software products within Agile rapid development project environment
  • Experience managing a QA team including estimating level of effort and preparing project plans
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies. Near-term focus will be manual testing with movement in time to leveraging automated testing tools
  • Familiarity with layered testing principles (e.g., unit testing, system testing, parallel testing)
  • QA within Agile project environment
  • Knowledge of IT systems, object-oriented database design, and data structures (Oracle, SQL Server, mySQL)
  • Knowledge of general programming techniques
  • Analytical reasoning and aptitude with quantitative analysis (MS Access and Excel experience)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Attention to detail
Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • Expertise in the business domain of commercial or residential real estate, portfolio management, asset tracking, service management
